As is often said: where there's a woman, there's a way.

And today near Helmsley, local MP Anne McIntosh is holding a seminar to bring that thought to the fore.

The discussion will touch on common issues faced by women, and the wider role they play in rural North Yorkshire communities.

Miss McIntosh, MP for Thirsk, Malton and Filey,  told Minster FM: "I'm blessed by having such a brilliant and active Women's Committee in my constituency. They include farmers, charity volunteers, businesswomen, church wardens, and countless other occupations.

"I often visit local schools, and am asked by girls keen to have a political career - what's it like to be a female Member of Parliament in North Yorkshire?

"Today will provide an opportunity to debate these, and other, issues affecting women in rural communities like Thirsk, Malton and Filey."

Anyone can attend the seminar; and opinions will be greatly accepted.
