Crime In York Is Down

Crime in York is down, with new plans to tackle drink fuelled violence.
It's suggested there are 550 fewer victims of crime compared to a year ago, which is a 5% fall.
Violent crime is down by 10%, cutting the numbers going to York Hospital's A&E unit by almost a third.
But new measures are being brought in to stop women smuggling booze into pubs and clubs in their handbags and to stop people travelling down from the North East arriving in the city drunk.
Plans to confiscate alcohol from people drinking on the street within the bar walls could be brought in next month.
