Record Number North Yorkshire Businesses Increase Sales
8:51am 10th January 2014
Businesses in North Yorkshire say they're doing better than they have for the last ten years. A new survey from the Chamber of Commerce says a record number of companies have increased sales.
The Chamber of Commerce says confidence amongst businesses in our region surged forward in the last three months of 2013, which has led to results not seen in the last decade. They add that confidence is largely driven by increasing domestic sales activity with a record number of companies reporting increases, but exports too improved over the last three months.
Improving confidence and economic conditions, say the Chamber of Commerce, may have implications as this quarter they have seen an increase in the number of companies expecting to raise their prices. Profit margins have been squeezed in recent years, say the Chamber and as recovery shows more determined signs they add that they expect companies to use this as an opportunity to rebuild margins.
