Sutton Bridge gets a temporary repair
2:34pm 26th January 2010
Last week traders in Elvington told us the collapse of Sutton Bridge is costing them thousands.
But now it seem people-power and our coverage on Minster FM have forced the council to act.
Originally it was thought repair work would only start in March because the bridge is a listed landmark.
But East Riding of Yorkshire Council have confirmed work it will begin tomorrow (27-1-10) to temporarily fix it and should take around a fortnight.
It's great news for local traders in Elvington as once the work is complete the bridge will be able to reopen.
We're told for safety reasons though there will be restiction for vehicles on weight, width and speed.
The bridge collasped after a lorry crashed into it nearly a fortnight ago.
