Police car

3:18pm 3rd January 2014

Police are investigating after a caravan was damaged during an unsuccessful attempt to steal it in Hillam.

At around 7.20pm on Thursday 2 January 2013, thieves tried to take a Bessacar caravan from outside a property on Hillam Hall View using a dark-coloured 4x4 vehicle, possibly and Isuzu trooper.

The thieves failed to secure the caravan, which is worth £40,000, to their vehicle properly and as they set off it became unhitched and rolled into a neighbour’s tree, ripping the glass solar panel from the roof.

The damage caused to the caravan is estimated at around £25,000.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who is responsible to contact them with information.

Anyone who can help the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Nicola Gill or Selby police.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
