Christmas Food Hygiene Ratings
6:01am 23rd December 2013
If you're planning a festive meal out with family or friends, councillors are urging customers to check the hygiene rating of businesses before they eat out.
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme rates the hygiene of food businesses from 0-5, 5 being the best and 0 the worst.
Councillor Shirley Shepherd, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Health, Hambleton district council says, “As the festive season fast approaches we want to see customers using the scheme to check the ratings of businesses before they buy,”
“It makes sense to look before you book and check out the food hygiene rating as well. No-one wants to gamble with their health when eating out, particularly when celebrating the festive season.”
The ratings are displayed on window stickers and certificates – as well as being listed on http://food.gov.uk/ratings ; http://hambleton.gov.uk. There is also a downloadable app for the ratings –food.gov.uk/app-android or http://food.gov.uk/app-itunes
