City Of York Council Encouraging More Firms To Pay Living Wage

People in York working part-time and on minimum wage need to paid more according to a new report.
The city council says it will encourage more firms to pay the living wage of £7.65 an hour.
It also says it will bring in actions to increase pay for people who work part-time and for full time workers on low pay.
But for the first time since 2007 workers' pay in York is higher than the national average, while people working in York have the second highest pay levels in Yorkshire.
