A City Of Angels Descends On York
9:36am 14th December 2013
It's colder...there's more tinsel around than ever...and there's just eleven more sleeps until the Big Day.
But for anyone not feeling remotely like Christmas yet, there's something in York City Centre this weekend that might well change your mind.
The Festival of Angels incorporates some of the most stunning ice statues and sculptures ever seen. This year's event has it all - from an icy Panto Dame to a frosty Viking hammer.
From 11 today and tomorrow, you can enjoy live ice carving, sip a chilled drink at a real ice bar, and grow your own pair of frozen wings.
And, at sporadic moments throughout, there'll be realistic snow showers sprinkling the streets.
Councillor Sonja Crisp's behind the festival, and she told Minster FM how well-supported it is:
"It's a firm favourite with residents and visitors of all ages. This year, we're looking foward to more than a dozen ice sculptures to admire.
"It's becoming one of our most important festivals now. Our businesses are investing in it more and more."
This magical event is free, and runs all weekend. For more information on the Festival of Angels, visit www.yorkfestivals.com
