Ryedale police are appealing for information following a burglary in the district.

It occurred overnight between Thursday 5 December and Friday 6 December 2013, when someone stole a large quantity of meat from an outbuilding of a farm near Coulton.

The thieves stole bacon and pork joints sealed in shrink-wrapped plastic with green labels, valued at around £400.

PC Steven Leach, of Helmsley Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you noticed any suspicious vehicles in the Coulton area during the time of the theft, I urge you to contact the police straight away as you may have vital information that could help my enquiries.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who has been offered bacon or pork joints in unusual circumstances and ask them to get in touch.”

Anyone who can help to progress this investigation should contact Helmsley police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Steven Leach. Alternatively, information can be emailed to steven.leach@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
