York Council Issues Rubbish Bins Time Check

2:15pm 6th December 2013

York Council has issued a reminder to people in the city to put their rubbish bins out before 7am on the day of collection, but not before 7pm the night before.

Although 9 in 10 homes in York haven't seen the day of their collections change after a review in September, the time bins are collected may have changed.

Geoff Derham, head of Waste & Fleet services, said: “As a result of these important changes to the waste service our collection rounds are now more manageable and effective. But this also means the time of some household collections have changed, as some collections are earlier than they have been used to in the past.

“We would emphasise the need for residents to present their waste and recycling by 7am on the day as crews are unable to return to empty bins or boxes that were not out by this time of the morning of their collection.

To look up collection dates or receive another collection calendar please visit www.york.gov.uk/refuselookup or call 01904 551551.
