North Yorkshire Police is appealing for the public’s help to trace a Ryedale woman who has been reported missing from home.
Sarah Georgina Rebecca Sissons, aged 40, of Main Street, Levisham, was last seen on the morning of Wednesday 20 November 2013 after she had stayed overnight with her aunt at Woodlands Park in Pickering.
She walked from her aunt’s home out of the estate and it was believed she was heading to her part-time job in Ryedale.
Sarah’s boyfriend reported her missing to the police at 11.10am on Thursday morning after failing to get in touch with her and finding out that she had called in sick at work on Wednesday morning.
Detailed police enquiries are ongoing to establish Sarah’s movements in the effort to locate her and put her worried loved-ones at ease.
This has included searches with the assistance from the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain rescue Team in the outlying areas of Pickering, as well as enquires in the Oldham and Stalybridge areas of Greater Manchester where she may have travelled to by bus or train.
Her photograph and details have been circulated to all police forces, the RAF base at Fylingdales and transport operators.
Officers are also appealing to members of the public for information and possible sighting of Sarah to assist the missing person investigation.
She is described as white with short dark-brown hair, brown eyes, 5ft 6in tall with a slim build. She was last seen wearing a grey v-neck jumper, charcoal trousers and a cream Puffa-style quilted jacket with fake fur around the collar. Distinctively, she is also wearing a black sling on her right arm.
PC Ray Thwaites, of the Ryedale Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “It is unclear if Sarah intended to go away for a break or to visit friends without telling anyone, but her disappearance is certainly out of character and is causing a great deal of concern to her family, boyfriend and friends.
“The police are particularly concerned as we understand that Sarah was feeling down after recently fracturing her right shoulder in a horse riding accident. It is believed she may not have the medication which had been prescribed by her doctor.
“Sarah had also booked her dogs into kennels for a week just prior to her being reported missing. While this could be consistent with going on a pre-arranged trip somewhere, it is unusual that she would not tell anyone where she was going.
“If anyone knows where Sarah is or you have possibly seen a woman matching her description, please contact the police as soon as possible. “
PC Thwaites is also appealing to Sarah herself to get in touch.
He said: “Sarah, if you see or hear this appeal, please contact your family, boyfriend or the police straight away to confirm that you are safe and well. There are a lot of people very concerned about you and we need to know that you have not come to any harm.”
