No Fix On Second York Water Main Burst Until Saturday

A second major water main burst in York won't be fully fixed until Saturday, according to Yorkshire Water.
The main at the junction of Melrosegate and Hull Road burst at 3.30am leading to flooding in the Melrosegate and Tang Hall Lane areas.

Hull Road was later re-opened but still has a two way traffic light system in place. Melrosegate and Green Dykes Lane are also still closed. The city council is advising people to avoid the area and Yorkshire Water tell us the road may not be fixed until Saturday and have apologised to customers and commuters for the inconvenience.

A repair team from Yorkshire Water are on site to fix the 12" main. Yorkshire Water say that more than 5% of their network is more than 110 years old.
Leadmill Lane is expected to be re-opened by Monday.
