Gas guzzling cars to pay more in York
5:47am 19th January 2010
York residents with gas guzzling cars should pay more for their parking permits.
That's from Transport Boss, Steve Galloway, who wants to introduce a premium charge for them.
He's suggesting an £18 a year hike for the largest vehicles, and to freeze the costs for smaller ones.
But local MP Hugh Bayley's concerned this is just the council cashing in.
Steve's told Minster FM this isn't a money-making enterprise for the council, as it'll only break even.
He says because inflation will affect staffing and administration costs - the authority need to up it's costs.
