Witness Appeal After Woman Mugged in York

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after woman was robbed in York.

The woman, aged 29, was walking along a narrow footpath at the bottom of Winterscale Street, near St George’s Primary School in the Fishergate area of the city, at around 3.35am on Friday 25 October 2013, when she was approached from behind by a man.

The man threatened the woman and pulled her handbag from her grasp before running off in the direction of Winterscale Court. It is believed that he may have then got into a car and driven off.

He is described as being white, aged in his early 30s, with a medium build and was wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the robbery or saw anyone behaving suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch.
