NHS In York Is Taking On More Nurses
6:01am 26th October 2013
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is trialling a new approach to nurse recruitment with a series of ‘one stop shop’ events.
The events allow candidates to apply, interview, and leave with a job offer all on the same day. Applicants will also have the opportunity to meet some of the senior nursing team and find out more about the organisation and the roles on offer.
The events are taking place at York and Scarborough Hospitals on Saturday 26 October 2013 from 10am to 4pm.
The Trust’s team, which has previously been recognised nationally for its approach to recruiting Healthcare Assistants, hopes that this approach will encourage qualified nurses to consider a career with the Trust.
Lydia Larcum, Recruitment and Resourcing Manager for York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “These events are a great opportunity for qualified nurses looking to start or further their careers. We have recently invested in our nurse staffing levels, and have a number of posts we would like to fill as soon as possible. The traditional recruitment process can take time, and we know that waiting to hear whether you have got an interview, and then whether you’ve been appointed, can be frustrating. By offering these events we are giving nurses the opportunity to complete the process quickly, and we are also able to interview and, hopefully, recruit, several staff in a short space of time, which benefits the Trust.”
The Trust is recruiting for qualified adult general nurses, for positions based in York, Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby, Selby and Malton.
Those wishing to book a place at either location should call the recruitment team on 01904 721631. Candidates will be able to complete their application form on the day, but those wishing to speed up the process may choose to complete the application form online and bring it with them say the Trust. The online application form, along with further details about working for the Trust, can be found on the homepage of the Trust’s website: www.york.nhs.uk
Free parking is available for all candidates attending the events, say the Trust. Details will be provided at the time of booking.
