Two Selby Teenagers Arrested on Suspicion of Metal Theft

Two Selby youths have been arrested on suspicion of burglary in the town.

The pair were seen acting suspiciously on Johnson Street, at around 8pm on Sunday 8 September 2013, by two Special Constables on patrol in the area.

When the officers approached them, one of the pair, aged 17, rode off on a bicycle and a 15-year-old left on foot.

The boy aged 15, was stopped a short time later carrying a bag containing copper cable. He admitted that he had stolen the metal and was given a Community Resolution Disposal.

The second youth was arrested on Charles Street in connection with the burglary. He currently remains in police custody.

Special Constable Heidi McLoughlin, of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you have any information about this burglary I ask that you come forward and contact the police straight away.”
