Police Appeal After Man's Body Found in Selby Dam

North Yorkshire Police are investigating after a man's body was discovered in Selby Dam.

A member of the public found the man in the water, near Sainsburys supermarket on Scott Road, at 9.30 on Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained while officers establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He is thought to be a local man aged in his twenties and was dressed in a white top, maroon hooded top and trousers.

The man’s family have not yet been informed that he has died.

Detective Inspector Andrea Kell, leading the investigation, said: “I need to speak to anyone who has seen the man in the Selby area during the evening of Saturday 17 August 2013, so that I can establish his movements prior to the discovery of his body.”
