Government funding for housing in York

York is to receive over a million pounds of Goverment funding to provide family housing for local people.
MP for the city Hugh Bayley has told Minster fm hes been lobbying the Housing Minister, John Healey MP, for Government funding to build new council homes in York for local families who cannot afford to buy a home in the city.
Today the Minister announced that City of York Council would receive a Government grant of £1,249,810 – to be matched pound for pound with the City Council’s own money – to build 21 new council homes in the Burdyke area of Clifton, behind St Joseph’s Church in a new street to be called Millbourne Drive.
