Police investigating a burglary in York have made three arrests.

Officers were called at around 2am on Saturday 10 August 2013, after a woman disturbed three people in her home on Dove Street.

After a search of the area, officers say they arrested two women, aged 21 and 24, and a 38-year-old man on nearby Nunnery Lane.

Following questioning they were released on police bail to allow for further enquiries, say officers.

They add that the 21-year-old woman was given a caution for possession of Class A drugs.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for York CID.

If you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.

Crime prevention

Officers are urging residents to ensure that they have the necessary security arrangements in place to protect their homes from thieves.

It is a good idea to:

* Ensure all doors and windows are locked even when at home

* Install security lighting which can act as a strong deterrent to thieves

* Make sure you set your burglar alarm if you have one

* Keep an eye on neighbouring properties and report anything suspicious to the police
