Coins Around York Minster Challenge
6:00am 27th July 2013
A Coins Around the York Minster Challenge taking place today (Saturday 27th July 2013) is all set to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
The challenge, organised by the BHF York Fundraising Committee, aims to encircle the York Minster with coins. York residents and visitors are invited to visit York Minster today (Saturday 27th July) anytime from 9am to 4pm to donate and place coins to encircle the whole of York’s famous landmark.
Andy Kirby, BHF York Committee Chair, said: “We are delighted to have the support of York Minster to be able to organise this challenge every other year. We are aiming to get all the way around the York Minster this year, a length of 511 metres – a feat that we’ve haven’t yet achieved. We got two thirds of the way around in 2011 in atrocious weather, and raised more than £1200 so this year we are hoping for good weather and lots of support to help us to get all the way around!”
Sarah Huddlestone, BHF York Committee Secretary, said: “All of the proceeds raised will go to the British Heart Foundation, so by engaging in events like this you are helping our life-saving and life-changing work to continue. We’re fighting for every heartbeat but we can’t do it without you."
