Some footpaths finally gritted in York
4:46pm 7th January 2010
Following concerns this morning by York Councillor Ken King that footpaths in York haven't been gritted, we've got a response from the council.
It's confirmed it's now treated some pavements; including those around shopping areas, care homes, post offices and sheltered accommodation schemes.
The authority now says it's considering ways to maintain its salt stocks, which currently stand at 450 tonnes.
We're told the suppliers actions are now governed by instructions from central Government.
