Tadcaster Burglary Warning And Appeal For Information
7:23am 19th July 2013
Police are appealing for information and urging householders to lock up at night after a car was stolen from outside a house in Prospect Drive, Tadcaster in what police say is known as a two-in-one burglary.
Officers say that thieves entered the owner’s home through an insecure door between 11pm on Wednesday 17 July and 3.30am the following morning. They stole the keys to the car, a Samsung laptop and then stole the car parked outside.
The grey Toyota Yaris was later found in the Seacroft area of Leeds, say police.
Officers are asking for anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area to contact them as soon as possible.
In particular, they would like anyone who saw three men in a red Ford Fiesta in the Tadcaster area around midnight, to contact the police.
Officers have also reiterated their advice to members of the public to always lock their doors and accessible windows at night or when they leave the house, and to always hide their valuables away from view, including car keys.
North Yorkshire Police say that the hot weather is leading to home owners leaving windows open to air rooms. However they add that the thieves know this and will seize any opportunity to enter insecure premises.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Selby CID, you can also email SelbyCID@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
