York Police Continue Search for Wanted Man
1:07pm 15th July 2013
York police are continuing their efforts to return a wanted man to prison.
Douglas MacRae, 29, is being sought for failing to attend meetings with the Probation Service. Police also need to talk to him about a number of shoplifting offences in the city.
He was released from prison on Wednesday 26 June 2013, having served 14 months for burglaries of domestic properties.
MacRae is described as white, around 5ft 8in tall with a medium build and short brown hair.
Officers believe that MacRae is in the Heworth or Tang Hall areas of York.
Detective Inspector Dave Kirby, of York CID, said: “Douglas, don’t think that because we haven’t located you yet we are going to give up our efforts. We have not, and will not stop looking for you until you are in custody. Every day that you remain at large only makes the inevitable outcome all the worse for you. I urge you to hand yourself in at the nearest police station immediately.
“Police officers are also continuing to make regular visits to addresses where we believe MacRae has links.
“Anyone who may be shielding MacRae needs to know that they are not helping him. They may even be committing offences by doing so. If this is the case they will be arrested and face the possibility of prosecution.”
DI Kirby added: “If you see MacRae, please contact the police straight away so that he can face the consequences of his actions.”
Anyone who can assist with returning Douglas MacRae to prison is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 immediately, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
