York Police Search for Wanted Man
8:30pm 9th July 2013
York police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a man wanted for recall to prison.
Douglas MacRae, 29, is being recalled to prison for failing to attend meetings with the Probation Service.
He was released from prison on Wednesday 26 June 2013, having served 14 months for burglaries on domestic properties.
MacRae is described as white, around 5ft 8in tall with a medium build and short brown hair.
Officers believe that he is in the York area.
Although it is not thought MacRae poses a risk to the public, anyone who does see him should contact the police straight away.
Detective Inspector Dave Kirby, of York CID, said: “Douglas, this is not an issue that will go away and I urge you to hand yourself in to the nearest police station immediately. Officers will not stop looking for you until you are back in custody.
“I am also asking anyone who sees MacRae, or knows where he is, to come forward and contact the police straight away.
“Anyone who may be shielding MacRae is not doing him any favours. They may even be committing criminal offences by doing so and face the prospect of arrest.”
DI Kirby added: “Officers have already made a number of visits to addresses to which MacRae is believed to have links. These visits will continue until he is behind bars.”
Anyone who can help to locate Douglas MacRae is urged to cal North Yorkshire Police, as soon as possible, on 101, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
