Calendar Girls is a humorous and inspiring dramatisation of the true story of the Yorkshire Women’s Institute members who stripped for a charity calendar to raise funds for a local leukaemia unit, where a friends husband was treated until his death. Julie Walters plays Annie, whose husband dies of leukaemia and Helen Mirren plays her best friend Chris, the genius and driving force behind the calendar. The film also features roles from the hilarious Celia Imrie, Annette Crosbie, Penelope Wilton and Linda Bassett.

Admission is £3 and tickets are available on the door. For any enquiries please call 07835 927965. Doors will open at 1.30pm and the film starts at 2pm.

Film at the Frazer : Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
On Saturday 8th April at 11am Film at the Frazer presents Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Kickstart your Easter holidays with a trip to chocolate heaven with this family favourite.

Starring Gene Wilder in the title role, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory may not be the most faithful Roald Dahl adaptation to hit the big screen, but there’s a strong argument that it’s the best. Even Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, with their 2005 release Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, couldn’t come close to this 1971 musical version.

Even nearly four decades later, it’s a surprisingly dark yet ultimately utterly joyful film, as Charlie Bucket finds his golden ticket and gets to join four gruesome children on a tour of the factory of the film’s title. What’s more, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is packed with toe-tapping, memorable musical numbers, a terrific cast of young performers, and a memorable lead performance from Wilder. His Willy Wonka is a complex creation, veering unpredictably between likeable and quite sinister. And it’s a performance that sticks in the mind long, long after the credits have rolled.

Admission £3 on the door. Enquiries 07835 927965.
