#PigeonGate

16th March 2017

We had chaos over #pigeongate this morning when Ronan and Dave didn't call this morning. The reason was Dave has run over a pigeon and was too traumatised to call in. Then Rachel text in and said to be fair they do explode and make a big pop noise #rippigeon. This threw us all off.

York Literature Festival starts today and Ben has decided to add an extra secret surprise event to the bill. He is going to run a session reading clips from Glenn Hoddle's World Cup Diary 1998, the last book he read cover to cover. He did a few clips in the show, it was awful and Ellie was bored. Then the add fuel to the fire, the organisers of York Literature Festival liked Ben's tweet and he has taken that as confirmation he is being added to the bill. He is currently googling venues…

Major drama today about Ellie' car. She went to get her aircon fixed which she thought was covered by the warranty but came back to an £800 bill. Ellie then laughed in anger and disbelief and the sales people started laughing too and making jokes about her having to roll down the window. Ellie didn't think it was funny. She then wanted to read the warranty but couldn't face doing it at home so went to a pub and read it with a happy hour beer in hand surrounded by couples. Then she rang her Dad after discovering it looks like it is in warranty who advised her to ring back and be a strong independent woman, if that doesn't work cry and then he will have a go at explaining.

Today it was Story Corner: 'The more that you read, the more thing you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go' from Dr Seuss' I Can Read With My Eyes Shut. Becky from York was our winner.

SCREEN STARS
We started our new competition to win 2 tickets to the Vue every morning at 6.20 am… Screen Stars. Today, 'Dial is trying to collect the insurance money. Willy's worth a million dollars' which caused a lot of problems. The answer is Free Willy but the text machine starred out the word willy thinking it was rude. So who knows what people were really saying! Paul from Acomb was our winner.

PANIC
We started our new game Panic to win £25 if you can name 5 things related to the ‘Panic List’ from your chosen subject. If you panic, you will receive a panic button!

Today we had birthday girl Phillipa playing who was trying to name five Spice Girls number one singles. She had a brain blank and got 0.

Tomorrow we take the next step in Ellie's mission to find a friend. Ben has arranged a make-over and then they are going to go and sit in a coffee shop and wait for the hair to wow until Ellie finds a mate.

Ellie B's Monday morning blog

13th March 2017

This morning we had Helen and Frances, one half of Yorkshire Rows, on the show talking about their new book 'Four Mums in a Boat'. It has just been released and there is already talk of movies… they just want a cameo role! If you want to hear about their amazing story and meet the ladies, they are doing loads of book signings across York and will be holding a talk during the Literature Festival in York on 30th March at St Peter's School.

Ben has vowed to find Ellie some friends so we are going to be doing mating… not dating. There's going to be several stages, a blind mate, speed mating and when (if) Ben find Ellie a friend they will go on the first mate. Fingers crossed.

Ben and Jess took on a Date Night Challenge. The challenge is to go on a date and not look at your phone and not talk about the kids. Apparently this is very hard, Ben had to revert to flirting with the waitress to create conversation.
