| Tracy Gee is the Senior News Editor for Yorkshire at Minster FM keeping you updated with breaking news 7 days a week. My first experience of stepping into a radio station was back in 1994 aged 14 when I did work experience at BRMB in Birmingham. I loved the buzz around the place, always something going on, and to be honest I was overwhelmed by the glitz and glamour of the whole experience. Looking back now it's funny because I know that everyone running around, what I considered at the time to be "great fun", were probably ridiculously stressed as a news story was breaking. Anyway it was my springboard into the industry and inspired me to do hospital radio and a degree in Media at Huddersfield University. Uni years (bit of a blur) great parties, lots of liquor, made life long friends, oh and of course some hard work towards the end to actually get my degree. |
| I finished with a 2.1 in Media and Television Production, so the obvious route for my career was radio. ???? I know I don't know how I got here either. If you hadn't guessed from my slight "Brummie twang" on the airwaves I'm originally from the West Midlands. Ma and pa are still there, living near Coventry now, and I moved up to Yorkshire in 1999 seeking fame and fortune. I've worked at numerous radio stations up and down the country but eventually decided to settle at the No.1 Commercial Radio Station for North Yorkshire Minster FM and I've been here now as the Senior News Editor for Yorkshire since March 2007. In my free time I love to travel. Myself and a group of friends did a round the world trip in 2005/2006, the best 12 months of my life to date. There's still a number of places I'd love to go though, so roll on the holiday period. My favourite music is a bit of a mixture. I do love a good 80s power ballad, which makes me a big fan of Minster FM at the weekends when we play back-to-back classics. I love the festival scene too and will definitely be at Leeds this August to party with a bit of rock/indie. As a Journalist to date I've interviewed some very high profile people across politics, the royals, showbiz, sport, you name it. To name just a few Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne (in fact my family call me 'Royal Correspondent') Ricky Hatton, Steve Cram, TV chef James Martin, Status Quo etc...the list goes on. I love my job because no day is the same, you've always got to be on your toes ready to react to the latest news and that makes everyday exciting. My school report age six said "Tracy talks to much", who knew I'd make a career out of it. |
