Police Reassure Parents After Fight Near Haxby Primary School

3:30pm 14th June 2013

Police in York are investigating a reported altercation between two men in the Haxby area.

The incident happened at lunchtime on Friday on a footpath off Oak Tree Lane, near Headlands Primary School.

There are reports on Twitter of the school being on lockdown but police tell Minster FM this is not the case.

One of the men was carrying with what appeared to be a baseball bat and pen knife.

Both men made off from the scene on foot.

Despite an extensive area search by the attending police officers, including the Firearms Support Unit, the two men have so far not been located.

It is unknown if either man suffered any injuries.

The local Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out patrols in the area to reassure people who may have concerns about the incident.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for York Police.

If you would prefer not to give your name, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference number 12130096701
