A64 Re-Opens after Lorry Fire Between Malton and York Update

News Update

11:50am 29th May 2013
(Updated 3:42pm 29th May 2013)

The A64 has been re-opened after being shut for most of the day after a lorry caught fire near Malton.

All diversions have now been removed.

There are temporary traffic lights in place on the east bound carriageway - the road isn't expected to be back to normal until tomorrow.

The Highways Agency say the road is to be resurfaced overnight.

It follows a lorry fire, which has seen the road closed since early this morning between Malton and York.

The driver of the lorry reported that his trailer was on fire at just before 5am. It is believed to have been carrying paint, tyres and masking tape.
