A seven year old girl from York who had meningitis when she was two years old wants to say 'thank-you' to the people who helped to save her life.

Minster FM asked York girl Edie Palmer why she wants to help York Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit:

Seven year old Edie says it's her way of saying 'thank-you' to the staff that helped her when she had meningitis at just two years old.

To raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit in York, Edie's doing a five mile sponsored walk today. She'll be setting off from her home in Acombe, walking around the city walls and finishing at the Minster.

Mum Samantha, says Edie came up with the idea herself.
