York Gets a New Lord Mayor

Councillor Julie Gunnell is the new Lord Mayor of York atYork Council’s Annual Council today.
Over 150 guests including the civic party, outgoing civic party, councillors and council officers attended the annual meeting earlier.
Cllr Julie Gunnell will be sworn in to office and will take over from the current Lord Mayor, Cllr Keith Hyman. Cllr Brian Watson will take over the role of Sheriff from Cllr Paul Firth.
The ceremony was held at the Guildhall and at the end of the ceremony the new civic party proceeded through the city centre, led by Superintendent of York Police, Supt. Lisa Winward and accompanied by the York Guard and the York Waits.
The celebrations continued at the Assembly Rooms with a private lunch.
