Selby Police Hold Anti-Crime Roadshows
8:00am 26th May 2013
Selby police will be giving out free home security kits as they host a series of crime prevention road-shows across the area.
On Sunday 26 May 2013, officers from the Selby Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team will host 45-minute sessions in Burton Salmon, Byram and Brotherton, Fairburn and Birkin.
Officers will be on hand to give out the kits and provide crime prevention and home security advice.
The kits include security marking pens, crime prevention advice leaflets and purse bells.
Police Community Support Officer, Kelly Vause, said: “The road-shows are designed to take the police into the heart of our communities and give people living in rural areas an opportunity to meet their local officers and take advantage of the free items and advice on offer.
“Research shows that burglary features high on the list of crimes most feared by members of the public with the theft or damage of personal possessions often having a lasting effect on the homeowner, their family, and the nearby community.
“We hope to raise awareness of the importance of taking the most basic crime prevention measures and put home security at the forefront of people’s minds. Everyone is welcome.”
The road-shows will be held at the following locations:
• Burton Salmon 9:30am to 10:15am at the village hall on Main Street
• Byram and Brotherton 10:30am to 11:15am at the village hall on Great North Road
• Fairburn 11:30am to12:15pm at the village hall on Great North Road
• Birkin 13:30pm to 2.14pm near the church in the mobile police office
