4:04pm 14th May 2013
Police in York are investigating the theft of documents from the City of York Council’s premises on St Leonard’s Place, York, during a move earlier this year.
On Friday 15 February 2013, council documents containing personal information were taken from the building while staff worked to empty the premises.
At the time, the building and outside area were very busy with several people who were assisting with the move.
Original reports claimed that the documents had been left behind after a skip had been removed. However, further investigations have revealed that the documents where in fact, taken from inside the building.
Police are now investigating the incident as a burglary and are appealing for anyone who has any information about the theft of the documents to contact them.
Anyone with information is asked to contact York police on 101, select option 2, and ask for PC Alan Collier, or you can pass information via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you prefer not to give your name, you can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
