Controversial Plans for 128 New Homes for Tadcaster Discussed
2:47pm 8th May 2013
Controversial plans for 128 new houses in Tadcaster are being discussed this afternoon.
It's recommended the plans for the former Papyrus Works in Newton Kyme are approved.
Opponents are worried about the impact on the green belt but Selby planners say it wouldn't make things any worse.
In a report they state:
The proposal would improve the visual amenity and landscape character of the area, and it would contribute to the meeting of several of the objectives of Green Belts including enhanced recreational access, nature conservation management, visual/landscape enhancement and reclamation of semi-derelict land. It also represents an opportunity to secure long-term maintenance of the viaduct, cycle linkages utilizing the viaduct and disused railway lines and the creation of the Local Nature Reserve area with a management plan. In addition traffic generation from the scheme has been fully assessed and travel plan mechanisms can be secured via S106 mechanisms to the benefit of both future and existing residents.
