2:16pm 22nd April 2013
Police in Malton are seeking witnesses to an assault that occurred on Saturday night.
A 19-year-old local man suffered head and facial injuries in the incident , which began in a flat and spilt out into the street near The Gate Inn, on Yorkersgate, at about 10.45pm.
He was taken by ambulance to York District Hospital where he was treated and discharged.
Two local men, aged 23 and 25, were arrested nearby. Following questioning, they were released on police bail while further enquiries are conducted.
Officers are urging witnesses to come forward without delay, particularly anyone who has mobile phone camera footage of the incident or those involved.
PC Andy Rogers, of the Malton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The area around The Gate Inn was fairly busy at the time of the assault, therefore we are hopeful that a number of people witnessed what happened and possibly even captured it on their mobile phones.
“Please, if you can help the investigation, it is very important that you contact the police as soon as possible. At the very least, please pass information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
