Taste Tradition, from Thirsk was delighted to receive a top award at the BPEX ‘Foodservice Pork Product of the Year’ competition 2013.

The competition finale, held at London’s prestigious Butchers Hall last week, saw 18 finalists recognised for product excellence in the catering sector.

Taste Tradition was awarded first place in the Best Cured Product category for their ‘Guanciale’, a type of Italian bacon. Managing director Charles Ashbridge was presented with a salver and certificate to mark the occasion.

BPEX foodservice trade manager, Tony Goodger, said: “The BPEX Pork Product of the Year competition is now in its seventh year and showcases the quality pork dishes being served in pubs, restaurants, cafes and schools.

“This year there were record numbers of entries, coupled with an excellent and diverse array of products all of which will enhance menus and thrill customers. The award-winning ‘Guanciale’ from Taste Tradition wowed the judges and thoroughly deserves the honour of being one of the best in the sector.”
