Historic Building in York Vandalised
3:22pm 16th April 2013
York police are asking for the public’s help to identify vandals after an act of criminal damage in the city.
The appeal follows graffiti being sprayed on the Undercroft next to the library on Museum Street, during the daytime on Wednesday 3 April 2013.
The vandals sprayed two tags, one of which was a diamond and two phrases “think before you ink” and “natural born killer”.
The cost of removing the graffiti was several hundred pounds.
PC Francis Hawthorne, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This is a shameful piece of criminal damage on one of the city’s historic buildings.
“If you can identify those responsible for this mindless crime, I urge you to come forward and contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”
Anyone who can help with this investigation is asked to contact York police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Francis Hawthorne. Alternatively information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 12130052760.
