Business Workers Get Set for York 10k
3:39pm 19th March 2013
Scores of businessmen and women are laying down the gauntlet to each other - to be crowned the fastest firm in York!
Hundreds of runners are set to take their marks for the Morrison Utility Services York10K Corporate Challenge – with the aim of being first past the finish post on Sunday, 4th August.
Entries for the event – one of the biggest corporate challenges in the region – were officially opened today when it was launched in York city centre by Morrison Utility Services, loyal sponsors of the event, and representatives from Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the organisers of the York 10K.
Norrie Forbes, Commercial Director of Morrison Utility Services, said: “We are delighted to continue our association with the York 10k once again.
“This is a fantastic event which raises significant and much needed funds for a broad range of charities at both national and local level.
“We have been involved since the first race and have given our support in a number of ways since it commenced in 2009, and we have been delighted to see more and more companies taking part each year.
“The enthusiasm of the teams and sense of achievement at the end of the race makes the event really special.
“We would like to encourage the companies who have previously taken part and would encourage new companies to take up the challenge in 2013.”
Also at the launch were representatives from last year’s winning team – Neil Pike from Turner and Townsend consultants, who ran the 10K in 39.30, and Vincent Durkan, from Balfour Beatty, who crossed the line in 38.02.
Vincent said: “We had a brilliant day. It’s a really great event and we’re looking forward to taking part again this year. Hopefully we can hold on to our title.”
Run For All’s Mike Tomlinson said: “The Morrison Corporate Challenge has become one of the key events in the business calendar in York and we’re really grateful for Morrison’s continued support.
“The Corporate Challenge is great fun event that is perfect for team-building and firing up your competitive spirit. It’s also a fantastic way of rewarding the team. We have firms who return year after year and tell us it is one of the highlights of their calendar.”
The Corporate Challenge is open to teams of 10 – or five for smaller businesses – and includes VIP hospitality on the day and an awards evening to take place in the week after the event, where the fastest firm will have bragging rights!
Entry to the Corporate Challenge is £550 for a team of 10 runners or £275 for five. For more information on the York 10K Corporate Challenge please visit http://www.forallevents.co.uk/run-for-all
