The grateful parents of a 14 year old boy from York say St John Ambulance staff saved their son's life.
A routine health check in the Coppergate shopping centre flagged-up a potentially life-threatening condition.
George Groom had a free blood-pressure tests which showed it was sky-high.
George and his family were referred to York District Hospital where it was discovered that George's aorta was too narrow.
That mean his blood flow was restricted, putting a strain on his heart.
He had keyhole surgery at the L.G.I, which was successful.
George's family have told Minster FM "We simply cannot thank St John Ambulance enough. I shudder to think what might have happened had we not been alerted."
George added "I owe them my life".
