Pickering Sleeps Out to Highlight Homelessness
10:30am 8th March 2013
Around 100 Pickering residents of all ages will be highlighting the plight of homeless young people in North Yorkshire by sleeping out overnight. York-based charity, SASH, is hosting the "sleepout" events after it experienced a 90 per cent increase in demand for its services last year.
The "sleepout" will help raise awareness of youth homelessness in the area, as well as raise funds to support SASH’s work. The charity prevents young people from becoming homeless by offering them a room in the home of a volunteer.
