York Police Hunt Wanted Man
1:13pm 26th February 2013
York police are making a renewed appeal for the public’s help to help locate a man wanted for recall to prison.
Craig Mulgrew, 24, of Wains Road, York, is wanted as he has breached the terms of his release licence and is believed to have committed further offences.
He is white, 5ft 8in tall with a medium build and brown hair.
Mulgrew was sentenced to four years and nine months’ imprisonment at York Crown Court in July 2009, for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was released in June 2011.
Although Mulgrew’s whereabouts are not known, officers strongly believe that he is still in the York area.
While officers do not believe that Mulgrew is a danger to the public, anyone who does see him is advised not to approach him, rather contact the police straight away.
Inspector Rob Thorpe, of York Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: ”Craig, if you see or hear this appeal I want you to understand this very clear message, we are going to catch you and return you to custody. You are not going to stop this outcome and you are only making matters worse for yourself by delaying it.
“If you are shielding Mulgrew you are not helping him. In fact, you are only postponing the inevitable. Also, you may be committing offences by not coming forward. If this is the case rest assured we will arrest you.
“Officers have made numerous visits to addresses where we believe Mulgrew has connections. We will continue these visits until he is returned to custody.”
Inspector Thorpe added: “If you can help to locate Mulgrew please contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”
Anyone who can assist to locate Craig Mulgrew is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police immediately, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
