University of York's Student Movie Challenge

Monks Cross Shopping is challenging University of York students to make their very own film with the winner getting over £200 of electronic items from Argos at Monks Cross.
The films, say Monks Cross, which must be made on a smart phone, must be no longer than five minutes, be called “My Monks Cross story” and be based on a student’s experience of Monks Cross.
The films can be as creative as the director wishes, may include music and narrative or could perhaps be a more arty silent production, says the shopping centre.
Katherine Sharp, Monks Cross Shopping’s Centre Manager said: “This is a great opportunity for University of York students to show us how creative they can be. The title sounds quite straight forward but I’m sure there will be some real inspirational pieces created. We are really looking forward to seeing how the title “My Monks Cross Story” can be interpreted.”
The films will be uploaded to social media websites with the wider public able to cast their votes on the finished pieces of creative work, say Monks Cross.
The film competition is part of a wider initiative between Monks Cross Shopping and University of York with an aim of encouraging more students to visit the shopping park. During the month of February there is a free bus service running between the Heslington campus and Monks Cross every Wednesday.
