Hambleton Council Praised for Electronic Planning Applications
3:15pm 22nd February 2013
Hambleton District Council has been named a Smarter Planning Champion.
It recognises the authority’s support for the electronic submission of planning applications.
Smarter Planning was launched by the UK Government's Planning Portal website – as part of a partnership between planning agents, local planning authorities and the Portal - to streamline and
improve the planning application process.
To achieve its Smarter Planning Champion status Hambleton demonstrated that it is actively applying best practice in the processing of online planning applications - saving time and resources as well as money and carbon.
It uses the Planning Portal as the preferred method of submitting applications, promotes best practice guidance for application submission, provides we links to key guidance and services and offers online fee payment or alternatives for quicker application registration.
Planning Portal director Chris Kendall said: "Congratulations to Hambleton - I'm delighted the authority is now realising the benefits that online planning applications can deliver.
"Our Smarter Planning scheme is all about working with local planning authorities and planning professionals to deliver a faster, more effective planning application system online.”
