York City Knights - Healthy Hearts Campaign

York City Knights

11:12am 15th February 2013
(Updated 11:25am 15th February 2013)

York City Knights rugby league player Kris Brining will join children from Sand Hutton Primary School today to launch a new programme to teach them about fitness and heart health.

The programme is being run by The York City Knights Foundation and funded by a £4,600 Healthy Heart Grant from Yorkshire-based charity Heart Research UK and sandwich chain SUBWAY®.

The ‘Run for a Healthy Heart’ programme will aim to improve the heart health of pupils in 10 local primary schools, aged 7-11, through a series of classroom activities and physical activity sessions.

These interactive sessions with the York City Knights players and coaches will get the children learning how to take care of their hearts through physical activity, eating healthy and not smoking, say the Knights.
