Minster FM Joins Campaign for Richard III to Be Buried in York
6:01am 8th February 2013
Minster FM is proudly joining the campaign for Richard III to be brought back to York.
More than 13,000 people have signed an e-petition calling for the former king to be laid to rest in the city.
York Central MP Hugh Bayley says the campaign should focus it's attention on the Ministry of Justice.
Gillian Cruddas from Visit York wants the debate with Leicester to remain friendly but says a royal burial in York would be a real boost to tourism.
The city council also wants Richard returned to York or a memorial in it's place.
We asked council leader James Alexander if he knows what kind of memorial it would be.
We want you to tweet us on @minsterfm with your views and messages of support, you can also e-mail us on firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01904 481234.
The campaign's already been given a boost by the news that Ryedale District Council backed Richard's return to York overnight.
Council leader Linda Cowling spoke to Minster FM.
