York police are investigating after a brand new car was badly damaged in a hit-and-run collision.

The white Audi A4 had its entire front end ripped off sometime between 12.30am and 11.15am on Saturday 2 February 2013, when it was hit by another vehicle while parked on Dewsbury Terrace, in the Bishophill area of the city.

The other vehicle, which is believed to have been a van, failed to stop at the scene of the collision.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.

PC Mike Cooper, of York police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

“I would also appeal to the driver of the van to do the right and come forward.”

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Mike Cooper or York police.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
