Overspending and cutbacks up for discussion at City of York Council

Senior directors are fighting for their careers, as the City of York Council's six departments merge into four.
The authority need to save 15 million in the next 3 years.
It follows overspending by some departments, Childrens services overspent by £1.8 million with adult social services in the red by £1.1 million.
The two departments look set to merge, as part of the restructuring at the authority.
The council need to save 15 million in the next 3 years. We're told job losses are inevitable.
This afternoon the overspend is up for discussion at the Guildhall.
