Police Update on Body Found in River Ouse Near York

Police say the incident which led to a body being found in the River Ouse at Acaster Malbis is not being treated as suspicious.
North Yorkshire Police have provided an update this afternoon, where a spokesman stated:
“Efforts remain ongoing to formally identify the body that was recovered from the River Ouse at Acaster Malbis, near York, on Sunday 13 January 2013.
“This process could take several more days before we are in a position to confirm the identity.
“However, it is important to stress that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
“In the meantime, we urge people to refrain from speculation to avoid causing unnecessary distress and upset.
“We again thank the media for their continued patience and understanding.
“We will update you further when it is appropriate to do so.”
