Body Found on Train Line Outside York

British Transport Police have confirmed that a body has been found this morning on the East Coast Main Line outside York.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “British Transport Police received reports from a train driver of a body on the railway line near Earfit Lane in Copmanthorpe, York at 8.28am this morning, Thursday, 17 January 2013.
“Officers attended and discovered the body of a man, believed to be a 32 year old local man, who had injuries consistent with having been struck by a train.
“At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are now working to formally identify the man and the exact circumstances of his death.
“Once these enquiries are complete a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
“The line is currently closed and passengers are advised to check with National rail enquiries on 08457 484950 or www.nationalrail.co.uk before they travel.”
