1:27pm 16th January 2013
York police are appealing for information following a robbery in the city.
It occurred at around 2.30am on Tuesday 15 January 2013, on Layerthorpe, when a 19-year-old woman was walking past the car park at the rear of the old ATS buildings.
She was approached by two men who grabbed hold of her before stealing a number of personal items, including a small quantity of money, a Samsung mobile phone and a bunch of keys.
The mobile phone was recovered a short time later at the junction of Fifth Avenue and Glen Avenue. The money and keys have not yet been located.
The first man is white, around 6ft tall and aged in late 20s or early 30s. At the time he was wearing a grey hooded top and dark jacket.
The second male is also white, aged from late 20s to early 30s, 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in tall and has mousy brown, receding hair. He was wearing a maroon hoodie.
Detective Sergeant Fiona Wynne, of York CID, said: “This was a nasty incident, which has naturally left the young woman feeling shaken and upset.
“If you saw the men dumping the phone following the robbery or can help to identify them I urge you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”
Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is asked to contact York CID on 101, press option 2 and ask for Fiona Wynne. Alternatively information can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
